The Darüşşafaka Society held the world premiere of the Darüşşafaka Cantata, which is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Republic, at the historic Süreyya Opera on November 25th. Composed by Turgay Erdener, written by Murat Göksu, and conducted by Rengim Gökmen, one of Türkiye’s leading conductors, the “Darüşşafaka Cantata” re-enacted the 160-year-long history of Darüşşafaka.
As a special gift for the 100th anniversary of our Republic, the Darüşşafaka Society crowned its 160-year-long history with an unforgettable cantata at the historic Süreyya Opera. Composed by Turgay Erdener, written by Murat Göksu, and conducted by Rengim Gökmen, one of Türkiye’s leading conductors, the “Darüşşafaka Cantata” allowed the audience to relive the well-established history of the Darüşşafaka Society in a magical atmosphere.
Accompanied by Symphonista Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, Soprano Ceren Aydın, Mezzo-Soprano Ayçin Sürücüer, Baritone Alper Göçeri, and Choral Conductor Volkan Akkoç gave the audience an unforgettable musical feast. Erdener’s deep and emotional compositions turned the 160-year adventure of Türkiye’s leading educational institution into music. Dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Republic by the Darüşşafaka Society and made possible thanks to Yüce Auto Skoda’s support, the night brought art lovers together.

Welcoming the guests prior to the start of the cantata, Darüşşafaka Society Chairman of the Board of Directors Oğuz Güleç shared his feelings about the event organized to celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Republic and the 160th anniversary of Darüşşafaka. Güleç said, “We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of our guests who joined us on this exciting, special night. We are honored to be hosting you at Süreyya Opera, donated to our Society by Süreyya and Adalet İlmen, on the meaningful anniversaries of both the Republic and our Society. The Darüşşafaka Cantata will be embedded in history not only as a piece of music but also as a monument of pride that has been shaped with the values and mission of Darüşşafaka.”

Darüşşafaka Society, one of Türkiye’s leading educational institutions, built a bridge to the future with this unforgettable night.
